File types can be accepted on 3-½ floppy diskette (IBM formatted), Zip 100 MB disk (IBM formatted), or CD-ROM. Files five megabytes and smaller can be sent as an e-mail attachment. Files larger than five megabytes can be sent via our FTP site. In order to transfer via FTP, we must issue you a user name & password. The following file types are preferred, however, incompatible formats may be converted (additional charges may apply):
All data must be accompanied with a record layout defining the number of fields, the length of each field and which fields to print on the mailing piece. We also ask that files be clearly labeled with identification, contact name, phone number and record quantity of the mail file. Also, if a specific output is desired (key codes/acct#), a hard copy example of a sample record output must be provided. When e-mailing a file, we require the file to be sent as an attachment, not embedded within the message. If you are unable to do so, we suggest compressing the file first (try using utilities such as WinZip, WinRar or Pkzip) and then attach the file. Please follow up with a phone call to ensure receipt of file. Files are not archived unless requested by customer - data files are only returned upon request, otherwise all files are destroyed within 30 - 60 days of processing. For more details, see our Privacy Policy. Ready To Hang Data Specifications Files must be comma delimited with no more than 8 lines including the barcode field. The data must be closed either up or down, however the barcode must remain fixed, consistently in the same field. An Endorsement Line is requested for easier sortation. We also request that the Sack#/Pack# or Sequential Record Number be on the output. All paperwork & bag tags or tray tags must accompany the mail file. Below is a sample layout:
(For automation presorts, the barcode field must include the zip, the plus 4, the delivery point, and the check digit without any hyphens or spaces, all in the same field.) |
